THOMAS C. MONTGOMERY TO HEAD EX-IM BANK CONGRESSIONAL AFFAIRS
Thomas C. Montgomery, an attorney with wide-ranging expertise in public policy issues at the federal, state and municipal levels, has been named Senior Vice President of Congressional Affairs at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank).Montgomery comes to Ex-Im Bank from the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services, where he served as senior counsel.
In his work for the Financial Services Committee, which is Ex-Im Bank's reauthorizing committee in the House of Representatives, Tom Montgomery has had direct experience dealing with our agency, and is well versed in our Congressional mandates and mission, said Ex-Im Bank Chairman Philip Merrill. We are delighted to have someone of his caliber to coordinate our interactions with Congress.
Montgomery has served in a wide variety of positions over his career both as legal counsel and as director of government or regulatory affairs in the public and private sectors.In addition to his recent Congressional post, he has served previously with the U.S. Congress, the government of Ohio, and has held positions in the private sector.
Montgomery received his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University College of Law, and was admitted to the Bars of Ohio state and the United States Supreme Court.He received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
Ex-Im Bank is an independent federal government agency that helps finance the sale of U.S. exports, primarily to emerging markets throughout the world, by providing loan guarantees, export credit insurance, and direct loans. In fiscal year 2003, Ex-Imauthorized financing to support approximately $14.2 billion of U.S. exports worldwide.
