LORRIE SECREST NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF EX-IM BANK'S NEW OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS
Eduardo Aguirre, vice chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank), today announced the appointment of Lorrie Secrest as senior vice president of Ex-Im Bank's new Office of Communications, encompassing the Bank's public affairs and marketing divisions. Secrest brings over 25 years of communications and public affairs experience in both the government and private sector to her new post.
Lorrie's breadth and diversity of experience will be invaluable as the Bank moves forward in its new structure and I am delighted she will be joining the Ex-Im Bank team, said Aguirre.
Secrest's background includes positions at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Information Agency (USIA). In addition, she served as director of the Office of Public Affairs at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) during the administration of President George H.W. Bush.
Secrest's private sector experience includes senior leadership positions in the telecommunications and aerospace industries. She has led the communications team for the Space & Communications Group at the Boeing Co. in southern California, and also held senior positions with SBC Ameritech as Ameritech's director of media relations in Chicago and then as its director of European media relations in London.
A native of Ohio, Secrest holds a B.A. degree in journalism from Ohio State University.
Ex-Im Bank is an independent federal government agency that helps finance the sale of U.S. exports, primarily to emerging markets, by providing loans, guarantees and export credit insurance. In fiscal year 2001, Ex-Im Bank authorized financing to support $12.5 billion of U.S. exports worldwide.
