EXIM Chairman Reed Addresses Tacoma, Washington Businesses on How to Boost International Sales Through Exports
WASHINGTON - Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) President and Chairman Kimberly A. Reed today joined the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturing Industrial Council for the South Sound, and World Trade Center Tacoma in a webinar for Tacoma-area exporters to learn more about growing their business with international sales.
During her recorded remarks, Chairman Reed outlined the ways in which EXIM can help area businesses reach their full potential and boost international sales. Through trade financing solutions such as export credit insurance and working capital guarantees, EXIM can empower small businesses to export their goods and services. Chairman Reed also highlighted EXIM's COVID-19 relief measures, which include waivers, deadline extensions, streamlined processing, and flexibility, to assist U.S. exporters and financial institutions impacted by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.
"The South Sound economy, with its unique manufacturing, industrial, and maritime industries, presents a great opportunity for U.S. workers to do even more through exporting to the global marketplace, and EXIM-along with other federal agencies like the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Commercial Service-stands ready to help," said Chairman Reed. "U.S. companies that export are more financially stable, expand faster, are more profitable, and the value of the company is increased. As the economy recovers in the wake of COVID-19, EXIM has important tools to help Tacoma and Washington state businesses utilize international markets and reach their full potential and support even more U.S. jobs. It was an honor to join some of these businesses during this very important time for our nation and world."
In her remarks, Chairman Reed highlighted a nearby small business exporter success story. The Software Revolution, Inc. (TSRI), which is an EXIM 2020 Exporter of the Year. Yesterday, Chairman Reed presented TSRI with their award at their Kirkland, Washington headquarters. TSRI is the industry leader in modernization services for automated legacy software systems, supporting both government and industry, using an artificial intelligence-based toolset and has used EXIM's export credit insurance to support their international sales since 2017.
ABOUT EXIM:
EXIM is an independent federal agency that promotes and supports American jobs by providing competitive and necessary export credit to support sales of U.S. goods and services to international buyers. EXIM also contributes to U.S. economic growth by helping to create and sustain hundreds of thousands of jobs in exporting businesses and their supply chains across the United States. In recent years, approximately 90 percent of the total number of the agency's authorizations has directly supported small businesses.
