Before joining EXIM, Jim Coughlan was a partner at Holland & Knight LLP, where his practice focused on litigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”). Jim has been recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers USA for International Trade and Intellectual Property law, by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) for intellectual property law, and by Crain's Chicago Business, Notable Gen X Leaders in Law in 2019. Previously, Jim was a senior staff attorney at the ITC, served as office legal counsel for the Hon. Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and was judicial law clerk for the Hon. Marion T. Bennett of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Jim has a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University a J.D. degree from DePaul University Law School and an L.LM. degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago Law School.
