Manufacturing Month
The Export-Import Bank of the United States, SBA, and the U.S. Commercial Service, along with other Federal Export Promotion partner agencies, take the opportunity in October to celebrate Manufacturing Month and the importance of U.S. manufacturing innovation and ingenuity to our standard of living. In 2022, the U.S. manufacturing sector contributed $2.65 trillion to the U.S. economy, accounting for approximately 10.3 percent of the nation’s GDP. As of August 2023, the manufacturing sector employs nearly 13 million American workers (seasonally adjusted). Manufacturing Month honors the success of manufacturers who export and encourages other manufacturers in the U.S. to start or expand their foreign sales: www.trade.gov/manufacturing-month.
Manufacturing USA®
Manufacturing USA is a national network of 17 manufacturing innovation institutes created to secure U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing through large-scale public-private collaboration on technology, supply chain, and education and workforce development. The institutes, sponsored by the U.S. Departments of Defense, Energy and Commerce, partner with six additional federal agencies. Manufacturing USA was created in 2014 to secure U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing by connecting people, ideas, and technology. Manufacturing USA institutes convene business competitors, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to test applications of new technology, create new products, reduce cost and risk, and enable the manufacturing workforce with the skills of the future: www.manufacturingusa.com/institutes.
